Hemispatial neglect consists of a deterioration of the visual centers of a cerebral hemisphere, which causes the affected person to perceive or pay attention to only half of the things corresponding to the side that remains healthy. This spatial perception disorder usually involves the left part of the visual field (due to a lesion in the right part of the brain).
Patients ignore half of their visual field , to the point that they only eat the food that is on the right side of their plate , write on the right side of a sheet of paper, or tie their right shoe because they do not even recognize their left leg .
