The 2022 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix will kick off on Friday 8 April after a three-year wait for Melbourne’s return to the calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will be the third round of the season, and the renovated Albert Park track will receive the single-seaters with a day in which two free practice sessions will be held (FP1 and FP2).
For several seasons, Formula 1 decided to cut the time of the tests before qualifying and the race, so these free sessions last one hour. Throughout these 60 minutes, the teams will be able to test all kinds of parts (as Ferrari will do with the new laser measurement system) to find the ideal settings for the car.
The cars will be put on the asphalt from 05:00 in Spain for Free Practice 1 (FP1) of the 2022 Australian Grand Prix, while the second test session (FP2) will start at 08:00 in Spanish peninsular time, so you will have to get up early enough or extend the night.
