MotoGP – everything before the 2022 Qatar GP race

Jorge Martín has achieved his fifth pole position in the first race weekend of 2022. This is Ducati ‘s third consecutive pole position at Losail with Jorge Martín (during the second race last year), adding to Francesco’s pole Bagnaia (in the first race of 2021). This is also Ducati’s seventh consecutive pole position in MotoGP.

The good news continues for the Borgo Panigale factory. This Saturday, Enea Bastianini achieved her best classification (2nd place on the grid) since she made the jump to MotoGP last year. The Italian’s next goal will be to secure his third podium finish after points from San Marino and Emilia-Romagna last year.

Marc Márquez returns motivated after getting a good feeling on his return to action. In addition, it is not the only thing that the Cervera rider has achieved. Marc Márquez will start from the front row on the starting grid after finishing third in today’s qualifying.

After Ducati evaluated the 2021 engine, Jack Miller managed to qualify fourth, ahead of Aleix Espargaró who obtained the best qualifying result, so far, for an Aprilia rider at Losail.

Pol Espargaró will start sixth, signing his best classification in Lusail since moving up to MotoGP in 2014. Behind Granollers will be Brad Binder and Joan Mir, who has been the best Suzuki rider, ahead of runner-up Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian is left out of the front row “for the first time” since last year in Germany, when he finished 10th.

Today ‘El Diablo’ was seen in Q1, a fact that has only happened three more times since he made the jump to MotoGP in 2019. Later, in Q2, Quartararo qualified 11th, the first time he failed to qualify within of the first two rows. Fabio has been the best Yamaha rider, something that worries the tuning fork factory, since it is the first time that there is no Yamaha rider inside the top 10 on the grid since Aragón in 2018.

Johann Zarco has finished 13th, his worst classification since he was 16th at the 2020 Aragón GP.

The MotoGP Qatar GP race is at 4:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time)

Moto2 – everything before the 2022 Qatar GP race

In the intermediate category, Celestino Vietti has taken the first pole of the season. The Mooney VR46 Team rider took pole after the lap was canceled by Sam Lowes, who showed resistance against Tony Arbolino, who ultimately finished second in qualifying. Spaniard Pedro Acosta went down twice on Saturday. The Murcian rookie was trying to improve his fastest lap, but all his options to get pole were cancelled.

The Moto2 Qatar GP race is at 2:20 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time)

MotoG3 – everything before the 2022 Qatar GP race

For the first time, Izan Guevara has ended the day with a pole position to his name. This first place on the grid is the second pole for a GASGAS rider in Moto3, counting Sergio García last year at the Algarve GP. Guevara took pole after signing an impressive record, which superseded the tax by Sasaki.

The Moto3 Qatar GP race is at 1:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time)
