WhatsApp is the most popular application in the world used by more than 1.5 billion users. However, July 1 is a date marked in red on the calendar. As of July 1, the WhatsApp messaging application will no longer be available in the Microsoft Store: it will no longer be available for download on Microsoft phones with the Windows Phone operating system, as the company has stated on its website.
According to the FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions page of WhatsApp, users will no longer be able to use all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, and WhatsApp will not be available in the Microsoft store after December 1 July, at the beginning of summer.
The official statement is somewhat ambiguous, because the word “may” is used, but the decision is final and WhatsApp will be removed from the Microsoft store in the very near future, as we have seen.
More mobiles in which WhatsApp will stop working
WhatsApp on Windows is known to lose technical support at the end of 2019. In addition to the Windows Phone version that will lose support, both previous versions of Android 2.3.7 and iOS 7 will also lose support, even though WhatsApp is enabled and both operating systems will be supported until February 1, 2020.
Thus, mobile phones with iOS and Android will also be affected. Therefore, users using OS versions prior to iOS 7 and Android Gingerbread 2.3.7 will not be able to create new accounts or verify existing ones, although they will be able to use the application until this date next year.
In this way, the application will be compatible with Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 or later, iOS 8 or later and some smartphones with KaiOS 2.5.1 or later operating system, such as JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
With this action, WhatsApp joins other company services such as Facebook, Messenger and Instagram that on April 30 stopped working on phones with Windows Phone as the operating system.
After WhatsApp is no longer supported, the application would stop working for Windows as it was not updated. If users already have WhatsApp on their Windows phones, it will be able to work for an indeterminate time after support ends, but this is something that can happen at any time.
How to know if your mobile will be affected
To verify the version of the operating system that you have on your own mobile, the easiest thing to do is go to the Phone Settings option.
