When an electric overcomes the tracks of the Arctic Circle

0

The Arctic Circle is a magical environment. Visiting the home of Santa Claus, seeing the Northern Lights (a show of unforgettable colors offered by the sky), enjoying kilometers of white blankets, snowmobile or husky excursions, reindeer rides… In Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, there are multiple adventures to live. So much so that even with an electric car the experience can be unforgettable. For this reason, Cupra has taken its 100% electric car, the Born, to travel tens of kilometers on icy roads, closed sections full of snow that are part of the Arctic Rally, and even several tracks of the Rovaniemi Driving Center (extension of 17 hectares) to demonstrate its full potential .

We could not think of a better car to have fun while preserving the beauty of this environment. And more to break a few stereotypes. Because whoever thinks a pure electric vehicle is just a city vehicle, boring and without any dynamism, is wrong. At the Driving Center, the scenarios were designed to test the behavior of the Born in different scenarios in which to control understeer and oversteer situations, learn to balance weights for sporty driving on snow and ice, as well as face a ‘ slalom’ at high speed in which the electronics will show their capabilities on this type of surface.

Only a few minutes have been necessary to verify the agility and magnificent behavior on surfaces with low grip of the Cupra Born. It is easy to circulate on snowy roads, without losing an iota of stability; and even if you notice that the rear part can go, its electronics come into action and you regain your position immediately. Of course, even with all its benefits, it should be remembered that in these types of conditions, braking can be compromised. We must always maintain a great safety distance with the vehicle in front of us since it will take us more meters than we think to stop completely. Moreover, with low grip, it is better to step on the brake pedal gradually until you stop. Never step on it suddenly because it could be worse.
