Dorna Sports, in partnership with Motorsport Network, has released the results of its 2022 MotoGP™ Global Fan Survey. The survey polled 109,676 fans from 179 countries , making it the largest fan survey ever conducted. in MotoGP™, by far.

The high number of participants allows us to safely extrapolate the results obtained. The questions that were thrown were of a wide variety of types, from the format of the races to the gender of the championship fans. One of these questions is the one that aims to investigate which pilots (active) are the most loved by the fans .

Fabio Quartararo, the most popular MotoGP rider

Thus, the results of the survey place Fabio Quartararo as the most popular MotoGP rider . 49% of those surveyed placed the reigning world champion as one of their three favorite drivers; a percentage that rises to 56% among the female public.

When given a choice between one of those three favorite drivers, 21.8% opted for Fabio. The young Frenchman particularly arouses passions among female fans between the ages of 16 and 34, and among fans in the UK, France, Germany, Indonesia, the Netherlands and Argentina.

Marc Márquez, second most voted rider on the grid

Although it is striking, Marc Márquez is not the man of the world championship with the most fans. The eight-time world champion, however, has little to envy Quartararo, since 32% of the participants indicated him as one of their three favorite drivers. Likewise, 19.8% place the Honda rider as their #1 driver.

Like Fabio, Márquez has more support among women than among men. He also has an important niche among fans aged 24-35 (a little older than Quartararo) and is the most popular driver in Spain, the United States, Poland, India, Brazil and New Zealand.

How does the list of the most popular pilots continue?

Pecco Bagnaia completes this particular podium, with 29% of answers that put him in his Top3 and 11% that place him at the top of the list. As it turns out logical, it is especially popular among the Italian fans , where it reaches 38% of the votes.

Jack Miller remains as the fourth most voted, thanks to his particular way of being and expressing himself. The statistic gives him 9.4% of the votes; a percentage that shoots up to 54% among Australian fans . It also performed well in the UK, where it is the favorite driver for 16% of those surveyed.

Aleix Espargaró, fifth with 5.4% of the votes, completes the Top5 of the most popular pilots.

The three pilots who continue this particular classification enjoy particular support in their countries of origin . Thus, Johann Zarco is in seventh place, with 26% of the votes cast in France; Brad Binder is eighth, with 59% of the votes from South African fans; and Miguel Oliveira closes in eighth position, with an astonishing 82% of the votes among the Portuguese fans.

These are the least popular MotoGP riders

Having seen the results from the top of the table, it is time to look at it in reverse and see which drivers obtained a lower percentage of votes . It should be noted that the survey indicates a list of twelve riders, while the MotoGP grid is made up of 22 names.

From the sample of twelve pilots, the men who received the fewest votes were Joan Mir, Enea Bastianini, Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Martín. The last two, although they were pointed out as one of the three favorite drivers by those surveyed, did not obtain representation when they had to decide on a single number.
