He flies into space at the age of 90. William Shatner alias Captain Kirk is supposed to take off with the space capsule “New Shepard” by Jeff Bezos.

Van Horn – The trip into space of “Star Trek” icon William Shatner (90) has been postponed for one day.

Because of the forecast of stronger winds, the flight originally planned for Tuesday is now scheduled for Wednesday, announced the space company of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin, via Twitter. Shatner had played “Captain Kirk” in the science fiction series “Star Trek” for decades.

In addition to the actor, the former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, the entrepreneur Glen de Vries and the deputy head of Blue Origin, Audrey Powers, are also expected to fly. Blue Origin posted a photo of the four participants in blue spacesuits.

Amazon founder Bezos had already tested the Blue Origin spaceship “New Shepard” in July together with his brother Mark, an 82-year-old former US pilot and an 18-year-old Dutchman. They had gone on a ten-minute excursion together. A few days earlier, another billionaire, the British Richard Branson, had tested his own spaceship. dpa
