Winter weather on the way: is a polar vortex responsible for the cold shock?

It has been around 20 degrees in Baden-Württemberg for days. The weather in October is similar to that of late summer and not very autumnal. It does rain from time to time, but there was no sign of a drop in temperatures – until now! Because weather experts see the chance of a drop in temperature.
