World's fastest processor

0

cpu Researchers from the University of Glasgow (Scotland) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell (USA) have created a processor (CPU) up to 20 times faster than the devices installed in computers that are currently on the market.

The device is based on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) technology. By dividing the millions of transistors in an FPGA into 1,000 mini circuits capable of each processing its own instructions, scientists have managed to process around 5 gigabytes of information per second , which means that these chips are up to 20 times faster than the current ones.

In addition, the new processor consumes so little energy when operating that it allows greater savings and has a lower environmental impact, which is why it is also considered ecological .
