"Yellow note": That changes with sick leave

0

Employees have been relieved of sick leave since the turn of the year. After a change in autumn, there is another innovation.

Frankfurt – If you want to take sick leave, you no longer have to send a certificate of incapacity for work to your health insurance company by post since October 2021.

The AU, as the certificate of incapacity for work is also known, has been digitally transmitted to the health insurers’ offices since then. This measure was expanded at the beginning of the year. However, the new regulation will only apply from mid-2022.

Certificate of incapacity for work: Employees and employers are relieved of sick leave

From July 1, 2022 at the latest, the certificate of incapacity for work should be sent digitally not only to the health insurance companies, but also to the employer – by the respective health insurance company.

Employees who are on sick leave no longer have to bring or send the AU (“yellow note”) to the employer themselves. This requirement is no longer applicable. The patients only receive a printed copy for their own documentation.

Certificate of Incapacity for Work: Why the AU is called “yellow certificate”

Why is it actually called “yellow glow”? This rather colloquial paraphrase for the certificate of incapacity for work comes from the fact that the medical certificates that employees previously received were printed on yellow paper. Saying goodbye to the printed form of the AU then also means saying goodbye to the “yellow note”.

Since the turn of the year there have been numerous changes in terms of taxes and social benefits. For some, however, the outlook is brighter than for others. An overview. (tu / slo)
