Almost 60 percent of 16 to 26 year olds in this country would get vaccinated immediately, according to a survey. Some, however, with a “bad feeling”. Poland has a particularly large number of young vaccination skeptics.

Berlin (dpa) – According to a survey, the willingness of younger people in Germany to have the corona vaccination is generally high.

According to the results of a survey carried out in April, 58 percent of 16 to 26 year olds would get vaccinated if they were offered a vaccination the next day. The survey by the YouGov Institute on behalf of the TUI Foundation was available to the German Press Agency in Berlin. 47 percent of those willing to vaccinate would “without any doubt” get vaccinated, nine percent “with a bad feeling”.

Biontech / Pfizer’s vaccine has already been approved for people aged 16 and over. The preparation was given the green light for approval from 12 at the end of May.

Not everyone will get a vaccination appointment right away

On Monday, the prioritization that had previously been reserved for the elderly, people with previous illnesses or certain professions will no longer apply in Germany. The federal and state governments want to offer all minors 12 and older a vaccination offer in the summer.

The medical profession urged to be patient because of the limited amounts of vaccine. Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) had also pointed out that not everyone could get an appointment at the end of the prioritization.

In the April survey, 16 percent said they would wait until more people were vaccinated. Only 15 percent said they did not want to be vaccinated.

According to the survey, the willingness of younger people to vaccinate in Germany is on average in large European countries. The 16 to 26 year olds were also surveyed in Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Poland.

Most of the young people who are skeptical of vaccinations are in Poland

The largest proportion of younger people who generally do not want to be vaccinated is in Poland at 27 percent, followed by France at 24 percent. The lowest proportions are found in Great Britain (3 percent), Spain and Italy (7 percent each).

66 percent of young people in Great Britain, 58 percent in Spain, 56 percent in Italy – but only 25 percent in Poland, 29 percent in France and 34 percent in Greece – say yes to vaccination unconditionally and without a doubt.
