Your face is familiar to me

Tu cara me suena Of the vast world of insects, only the so-called "paper wasps" are able to recognize other individuals of their species by the opaque features of their faces. Are they gifted? It seems that none of that, according to Wulfila Gronenberg, of the University of Arizona, that has studied all the ability of these wasps. After comparing the brains of specimens that had the ability to identify faces with others that lacked it, Gronenberg found that there are no appreciable differences in neural structures or visual organs.

Thus, facial recognition would hardly involve more development that discriminates between different predators or foods, which may clarify how this faculty evolved in more advanced animal minds.
