With the renewal of Pecco Bagnaia before the start of the season for two more years with Ducati, the Italian house must now decide which rider from its long list of riders will accompany the Italian in the official team next year.

The continuity of Jack Miller, who is celebrating his second season dressed in red, is one option, but not the only one, since there is a close fight between the youngsters Jorge Martín, from Pramac, and Enea Bastianini, from Gresini, to win the seat of the Australian, while so far, also Johann Zarco (Pramac) and Luca Marini (VR46) are not ruled out in that race.

However, the Frenchman stood out this Thursday in Austin from the competition for being in the official team.

“I don’t think about it yet,” he assured. “I want to ride well, have good results, that’s the first thing I want. If my performance is good, I’ll have opportunities to continue with Ducati, or maybe think about other factories,” said the 31-year-old. years that debuted in 2017 in MotoGP after winning two Moto2 world championships.

At his age, the Frenchman understands that Ducati may be looking at other options for the factory team.

“Maybe there are younger drivers who could be interesting for the factory teams, but as long as I can fight for podiums with Pramac I think it would be good to stay here, continue to build something we trust, that can be very good.” to renew with Ducati to continue in satellite training with factory material, which is its current situation.

In addition to age, another handicap for Zarco is that he does not have a representative to put pressure on Ducati to take him to the first team.

“I don’t have a manager who is there to put pressure on the teams and explain to them how good I am all weekend. So I hope that my performance can counter that talk.”

“Ducati knows my position very well. They know very well that I am doing everything possible to get there and that I am motivated, but I don’t have anyone to put pressure on them throughout the weekend. The goal, the main thing is to stay with Ducati because I think something is being built that is going to be really good, and that’s the first step.”

After finishing the 2020 season with Avintia, Ducati’s customer line-up at the time, in 2021 Zarco made the leap to Pramac, a satellite team, with a 2020 motorcycle, renewing in June for the 2022 course, in which he has the same material as the official pilots. At the moment, the Frenchman does not set a deadline.

“It will arrive when it has to arrive. I think that if everyone wants to close before the summer, I will do it too” settled the boy from the Cannes Riviera.
