A list of excursion ideas for preschoolers

0

Preschool field trips are all about fun, but they can also give your children an educational experience. Keep your preschoolers safe while showing them a good time with this list of preschool field trip ideas.

Fire station

The fire station is an interesting excursion for preschoolers due to the sights and sounds they will experience when they walk through the gate. Preschoolers can meet firefighters, learn basic fire safety rules, and even get behind the wheel of a real fire truck. Contact the station commander at your local fire station to schedule a tour.

Police station

Police officers can be scary to preschoolers, but touring a police station will show them how the police are really there to help and protect them. Officers can show their preschoolers simple ways to protect themselves and how to get help if they feel they are in danger. Contact the station’s crime prevention officer.

zoo

Preschoolers love going to the zoo. Walking the zoo grounds is an excellent physical activity and visiting the animals is always a delight. Bring your camera to capture images and revisit the animals at home anytime with your preschooler.

Wildlife sanctuary

Preschoolers can learn about a variety of wildlife at the sanctuaries. It’s also a great place for educators to teach them about the environment, nature, and the animals that are on the endangered species list. Contact the sanctuary in advance if your group would like a private tour.

Aquarium

All things aquatic will captivate your preschoolers in the aquarium. It’s easy to run around the aquarium with an energetic preschooler, but try to slow down so they don’t miss out on all the water has to offer. Call the aquarium director’s office to schedule a tour.

Farm

Preschoolers can get a closer look at the life of a farmer. They can pet farm animals, feed them, and learn simple farming lessons. Contact the farms directly to schedule a tour or contact your state department of agriculture for more information on farms in your area.

Kid’s museum

Not all preschoolers are ready to roam the halls of great art museums. But everyone can burn off some energy while learning about science, technology, and exploring their imaginations in children’s museums. The museum director can schedule your group for a behind-the-scenes tour.

Picnic

One of the most basic, but most fun, ways to have a successful outing is to organize a picnic. Bring a ball or even a radio and play classic games outside for your picnic outing.

Grocery store

The grocery store may seem like a common place for an outing, but when you add a behind-the-scenes tour, you give kids a whole new perspective on how the store brings their food to them. Contact the store manager to request a guided tour.

Bakery

Preschoolers will appreciate those treats they love to eat after visiting a bakery. The bakers will be happy to show the kids how they make cakes, donuts, breads, and more. The larger bakeries have tourist information on their websites. For smaller bakeries, call the store directly.

Pumpkin patch

Fun and games await preschoolers at Pumpkin Plots. Most pumpkin patches have a variety of activities for preschoolers, such as inflatables, hayrides, and pony rides. Visit the pumpkin patch during regular business hours if your group is small or you would like a private tour, please contact the pumpkin patch in advance to schedule an appointment.

Park

You can’t go wrong with fresh air and plenty of play space. The park is a perfect excursion because you have many possibilities. Take advantage of time in the park to teach children about nature or just play active games. Unless you are bringing a fairly large group to the park and need to reserve a pavilion, you generally don’t have to contact the parks and recreation department in advance. Just introduce yourself and have fun.
