The residents of the town of Olvera, in Cádiz, can already boast that they have their own Sistine Chapel. With little more than 8,000 inhabitants, the residents are proud of what the painter Miguel Sevillano has built to pay tribute to the entire town. Sevillian has acknowledged that he has not lacked effort, and it is that, according to the painter, it has taken a few ten years to complete his work. Located in the middle of the field, in the municipality of Torre Alháquime, the Sistine Chapel, baptized as the Chapel of Art, is interspersed with a landscape of olive trees that give it much more charm than the author himself could expect. From the moment you pose the challenge until you see it finished, you think about how you have been able to do something so beautiful », the painter explains to media such as Antena 3. His work rose thanks to his effort, which has not been exempt from setbacks. Throughout this time, Miguel assures that he has worked tirelessly, sometimes fainting due to the summer heat or pneumonia when he was working at the time. With all this, the result is fascinating when upon entering its temple we see that it is 10 meters high, its own collection of 84 paintings, and even the author’s own interpretation of Michelangelo’s Last Judgment. Sistina in the middle of the olive trees was designed by Miguel and an architect friend since 2009. Since then, the author has captured 400 local residents on the walls who act as witnesses to Sevillano’s vision of the Old Testament.
