The Italian singer really missed contact with his audience during the lockdowns. He is all the more pleased to be able to perform again – albeit under different conditions than before.

Rome / New York – The Italian singer Andrea Bocelli is looking forward to a live audience and hugs after the Corona restrictions.

“I endured the forced break. I miss the live relationship with the lively audience, ”said the 62-year-old tenor in an interview with the newspaper“ La Repubblica ”(Saturday) in New York. This intensity cannot be replaced by a computer.

In the US metropolis, a major concert was planned for Saturday (local time), among others with the Italian and rock legends such as Carlos Santana and Bruce Springsteen. Bocelli hopes, in his own words, that a real new start will now set in for music and cultural events.

Only people who have been vaccinated against corona are allowed to go to the concert in New York. Exceptions are for people who cannot be vaccinated and children. Bocelli looks forward to welcoming colleagues backstage and, if possible, hugging friends, he said.

The singer and producer, who was born in Tuscany, claims to have contracted Covid-19 himself. “I lost my voice along with my sense of taste and smell for two weeks,” he said. He was frustrated. dpa
