After a few warm summer days, the weather in Germany is about to cool down with showers and thunderstorms – but the September summer is not over yet.

As the German Weather Service * (DWD) reports in Offenbach, Tief Quillian only puts a small damper on the summer weather at the weekend. In Hesse, too, the weather situation is initially inconsistent, explained Christian Herold, a qualified meteorologist at the DWD. From Friday lunchtime, there will be more showers and locally strong thunderstorms * – locally also with heavy rain * and hail *. The maximum temperatures are between 20 and 25 degrees. On Saturday the weather will calm down again, according to the DWD expert. Then there are only a few showers. With a moderate westerly wind, the temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees suddenly don’t feel so summery anymore.
Thunderstorms and clouds: Deep Quillian pauses the September summer – but not for long
But while in the north there are still many clouds and isolated showers on Sunday (September 12th, 2021), the next high pressure area * is already moving up in the south. “The warm September weather will apparently continue next week,” explains meteorologist Dominik Jung * from the Q.met weather service to wetter.net. The development is still uncertain, adds DWD meteorologist Herold. “At the beginning of the week, increasingly subtropical air flows into the south and also into the center of Germany, which could bring a lengthening of late summer. Summer weather in September: But autumn should soon arrive in Germany
On Wednesday (15.09.021) there is at least another change in the weather: a cold front could bring showers and thunderstorms again. “After that, there is a rough trend in the direction of a somewhat cooler section of the weather, which could slowly bring us to autumn,” explains the weather expert from the German Weather Service.
