Martín: "It motivates me to fight against my brand mates"

Alcaniz. – That the Desmosedici was going to go well in Aragon was something predictable and that the four official bikes finished the first day among the top six confirmed it. Among them was rookie Jorge Martín, who finished 5th at the end of the first day at Motorland.

“I expected this circuit to be good for the Ducati, but it’s not the best. Seeing my feelings and following Fabio (Quartararo) on the track, I have seen that there are better circuits for the characteristics of our bike, but we are four ahead and that is a good indication”, admitted the Madrid native.

In his rookie year, Martín has already achieved a victory, two podiums and three pole positions, and only an injury and the crash last Sunday, in which Marc Márquez took him ahead, prevent him from being the first red bike in the general.

“It motivates me to fight against the brand’s colleagues, although it is more difficult to fight against an official Ducati than against a Suzuki, for example, but it motivates me”, admitted the Spaniard.

Among the Ducati, Aleix Espargaró, who already took the podium from Jack Miller at Silverstone and is looking for his first victory with Aprilia , slipped in second.

“Aleix is going very fast in one lap, but fighting for victory is very difficult. We have to wait until tomorrow to have more data, but here it goes fast and the Aprilia is doing well on this circuit, so why not”.

The Pramac man managed to improve a lot from morning to afternoon, pointing to the tire change as the key and he is not ruled out for pole position.

“After FP1 I didn’t see myself as competitive, but with the medium tire in front I’ve taken a giant step. Seeing that I am there one lap away, that the bike and I have a lot of margin, if we go straight to Q2 we will have the option of pole position and I hope to take advantage of it”, settled.
