In a presentation after 10:00 a.m. in Spanish peninsular time, the Germans showed the world their new machine in Brackley, but not before having joked with the Red Bull and Ferrari events with a publication on social networks that suggested that the designs of their rivals were “interesting”.
The star’s team will feature Lewis Hamilton for the tenth season, who disappeared from social networks after losing the championship in the last round of the year to the detriment of Max Verstappen. The Briton did not achieve the eighth and desired title with which he would have surpassed Michael Schumacher as the most successful driver of all time, however, he will have a new opportunity with the silver Mercedes.
On the other side of the garage will be George Russell, who at just 24 years old will get behind the wheel of a single-seater, in principle, with options for everything. The Englishman already has three courses of experience accumulated in the Grand Circus, and he proved to be ready to make the leap from Williams, a team without great resources at present, to the Brackley outfit, as happened in the 2020 Shakir Grand Prix , where he could have achieved victory if not for a puncture and a tire change error.
The Germans return to the silver color after two seasons with black tones on the car to support the fight against racism, but will retain the red sponsorship with Ineos.
“Like every year, we’re skeptical, if we’ve done a good enough job, it’s the right mindset,” Wolff said at the time of showing off the W13 that will be put on track for the first time at Silverstone.
