The resort and timeshare company Grupo Vidanta announced the first itinerary for its luxury cruise unit, Vidanta Cruises, which will start on April 14 with a trip of three days and two nights between Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán aboard Vidanta Elegant. , the brand’s inaugural vessel.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the destinations that was already among the cruise routes operated by other companies, in addition to Quintana Roo, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Yucatan and the Caribbean island of Cozumel, which accounts for half of the market.

In a statement, the company explained that Vidanta Elegant will have a capacity of 298 guests and 149 cabins and suites, which will be available through a Covid protocol, which will incorporate filtration systems that will allow the circulation of fresh air in all areas of the ship.

“Not only have we become the first Mexican developer that operates both on land and at sea within the national territory, but we are also generating new direct and indirect jobs that will benefit many communities on the Mexican Pacific coast and we are positioning our country as a world-class tourist destination,” said Iván Chávez, executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta, quoted in a statement.

“We reiterate the commitment that we have as Grupo Vidanta with the comprehensive development of Mexico, so we will continue working to continue inspiring generations of happiness and revolutionizing the tourism industry,” he added.

The ship will also have 13 restaurants and bars, a spa, gym, lounge with live entertainment, among other areas, and with a ratio of almost one crew member for each passenger.

Vidanta Cruises is one of the projects that the Grupo Vidanta conglomerate has had on the doorstep for a few years, and which has been delayed in a context of falling travel demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cruise ships have been the last tourist link to rise from the pandemic that began in 2020 and that slowed down the double-digit annual growth rate (10%) that the industry registered in the years prior to Covid-19.

In addition to venturing into the luxury cruise market, Grupo Vidanta inaugurated last year the new Beachland resort , in Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, and started operations of the SkyDream Parks Gondola, a six-kilometer cable car circuit that operates within the same complex .
