Are you under 27 years old? If so, you are eligible for an incredible 20% discount on Eurail rail passes!

The discount includes all Eurail passes, be it Global Pass, 4 Country Select Pass, 3 Country Select Pass or 2 Country Select Pass, as well as the many Eurail single-country passes.

Eurail is a consortium of train companies covering most of Europe, offering one of the easiest, cheapest and best ways to explore the continent.

Types of Eurail Youth Passes

There are two types of Eurail Youth Passes: the Global Pass and various Multi-Country Passes. Multi-country passes allow you to take a Eurail train in two or more European countries and cost slightly more than buying a single European rail pass. However, they generally cost less than buying a separate Eurail ticket in six or more European countries.

You can also get a ticket on the Eurostar, the train that runs under the English Channel between London and Paris or Brussels.

Let’s take a look first at the Eurail multi-country passes.

Eurail Youth passes from various countries

Eurail Global Pass Youth – This is an incredibly flexible pass and offers great value for money. If you’re not sure which countries you want to visit on your trip to Europe and want to keep your options open, this is the pass for you. Here are some of the options you can choose from, and you can choose any country in Europe where Eurail operates (almost all) to use your pass:

  • 5 travel days within 1 month
  • 7 travel days within 1 month
  • 10 travel days within 2 months
  • 15 travel days within 2 months
  • 15 continuous days
  • 22 continuous days
  • 1 continuous month
  • 2 continuous months
  • 3 continuous months

Eurail Selectpass Youth – Unlimited travel to either country of 23 countries over the course of two months. Travel days do not have to be consecutive. Choose from five, six, eight, 10, or 15 days of travel options.

The capture? The countries you choose to visit must border each other. For example, if you are leaving Austria, your travel is limited to Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, or Romania.

According to Rail Europe: “The chosen countries must be borderlands, or have a direct shipping line that is part of the Eurail offer… (for example) Norway and Finland are not (considered) bordering countries. They have a joint border, but to get from Norway to Finland by train (passengers) have to travel through Sweden ‘.

Pases Eurail Single Country

You can get single country passes for the following countries / regions: Austria, Benelux, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, the Greek Islands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scandinavia , Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

Train travel tip

If you want to sleep without fear of losing your backpack on a train, invest in carabiners (secure locking devices) and use them to hook your backpack to a top shelf.
