HVV: As of today, FFP2 masks are mandatory on buses and trains – VHH also want to upgrade buses

The stricter mask requirement for FFP2 masks now applies in the vehicles of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund. They protect better against infection. In addition, there will soon be filters in buses.

Hamburg – As of today, January 15, the new Corona Containment Ordinance will come into force. It is also being implemented in Hamburg and includes, among other things, a stricter mask requirement for buses and trains. Passengers must now wear FFP2 masks.
24hamburg.de explains here why the FFP2 masks are safer than medical masks.

With their increased filter effect, FFP2 masks protect the wearer even better against corona viruses. The traffic authority considers the new regulation to be sensible, in particular because of the highly contagious omicron variant and the increasing number of infections in Hamburg.

For children up to the age of 6, however, there is still no obligation to wear a mask and for children up to the age of 13 a medical mask is sufficient. In addition, the Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) want to install more air filters in their buses and elevated railways in the near future, which should separate the corona viruses. 85 percent of the 1,700 vehicles already have the filters, and all buses should be equipped with them by the summer. * 24hamburg.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
