In biographical films, actors are usually chosen who can provide a similar-looking cut to the actual characters they are going to play. But above all, they are usually tapes with a significant workload in the hairdressing and makeup departments. Clear and recent examples of this are the transformation of Gary Oldman to make Churchill in The darkest hour or the characterization of Christian Bale to incarnate the Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney in The Vice of Power. Now it’s Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield’s turn in The eyes of Tammy Faye. The Eyes of Tammy Faye (People Image) People magazine has wanted to share these exclusive images in which we see the uniquely characterized actors, for what they have used to us in their previous roles. Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield will play Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, a couple of evangelists who got a big promotion thanks to their Christian television network but who nevertheless fell short after a sexual scandal. The Eyes of Tammy Faye (People Image) This transformation of the actress into Bakker involved a four-hour daily makeup and hair job. Chastain said she was very impressed with the character and her story: “I was so impressed by her and her story. What I liked the most about Tammy is her ability to love. I knew what it was like not to feel important and I didn’t want anyone to experience that feeling. ” The Eyes of Tammy Faye (People Image) Chastain also spoke for the post about how much of the image of televangelists was influenced by pop culture and not so much the actual story of what happened. The actress, who has reviewed the character’s trajectory of more than 10 years, spoke to People reflecting how unfair the public image could be on many occasions: “Here is a woman that I had an idea of because of what they fed me with her. . Even the mascara running down her face. In reality, there is not a single photo of her with mascara running down her face (…) People turned her into a clown and punished her for her husband’s mistakes, of which throughout history women have been victims , expiating the sins of men ”. The film will hit theaters on September 17, 2021.
