Kellogg’s entered the world of robots through Bowl Bot, its new vending machine, with which you can create custom mixes of cereals and dried fruits or nuts in a breakfast bowl for a price of between $ 2.99 and $ 6.50.

This new gadget was developed by the company Chowbotics, which is a division of DoorDash, and which already has previous experience in manufacturing this type of device. Its operation is based on the touch screen of the machine or on the mobile application for smartphones and tablets.

In these gadgets users are shown the 22 different ingredient options, who can combine their food with milk or yogurt as a base, in addition to integrating different elements ranging from fruits or seeds to various species of nuts, which increase the price of the product.

Likewise, the Bowl bot also offers a variety of default mixes for those who have trouble combining their breakfast. At the moment, there are only a couple of these machines and they are at Florida State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

It is worth mentioning that the idea is part of the initiative, through which the brand provides an important variety of ideas to its consumers to use its products in creative ways in their meals.

“We are deeply committed to providing innovative solutions for our operating partners, helping them not only with menu items, but also with the complete customer experience,” the company’s general manager and vice president of the initiative.

For its part, Chowbotics specified that the technology of its device will protect the ingredients in a sealed container, in addition to keeping them under constant and controlled refrigeration.

Regarding concerns about the expiration of ingredients, the company also clarified that automatic notifications will be sent to food service providers on both campuses, in order to guarantee an optimal experience for users.

Although the implementation of a vending machine can be interpreted as a not very innovative movement, the reality is that hardware advances and the incorporation of the internet of things have given them a second wind, as even analysts have described them as restaurants within a box, as some teams even offer high-end cooking in minutes.

According to a study by the analytics firm, in 2018 this market was valued at more than $ 30 billion. In addition, the conditions of the pandemic influenced its growth during the last year, as they helped minimize contact between people fearful of a COVID-19 contagion.
