Green leader and Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock advocates higher gasoline prices. For this she is now receiving sharp criticism from the left.

Berlin (dpa) – The parliamentary group leader of the Left in the Bundestag, Amira Mohamed Ali, has accused the Greens of pursuing climate policy on the back of the little people with their target increase in gasoline prices. "Higher gasoline prices? Baerbock looks at people with low incomes with an unbearable arrogance. Because that really hits it, while the rich continue to refuel without any problems, ”she wrote on Monday evening on Twitter. "This is not a sensible climate policy, but divides society even further."

Greens boss Annalena Baerbock had previously advocated a gasoline price increase of 16 cents. Part of this has already taken place: “There was now a price increase of 6 cents at the beginning of the year, because for the first time a CO2 price was introduced on petrol. We say that this must be gradually increased to the 16 cents that Robert Habeck mentioned, ”the chancellor-designate had told Bild on Sunday evening. Co-party leader Habeck recently spoke out in favor of such an increase.
