King Márquez regains his crown

0

Marc Márquez is back. The king has regained his crown on his favorite circuit. Although it seemed that he could not get a new victory here. But the ilerdense took everything he had to win again 581 days after his last victory in the GP of the Valencian Community in 2019. Amazing. Six races after returning from his right arm humerus injury and, despite not being physically well, Márquez is back on top of the podium at the MotoGP German GP for the eleventh year in a row. Calvary has come to an end.

Germany is Marquez territory. He had 10 wins in a row on this circuit. Everything indicated that this year the ilerdense’s reign at Sachsenring would end because he was not physically at his best. Even Marc himself said after getting fifth position in qualifying that he did not aspire to victory. That didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try.

Knowing him she was going to do everything possible to fight for victory. This was demonstrated at the start. He did one of his magic starts again and went from fifth to second. He took the inside at the first corner and passed Quartararo and Zarco to get behind Aleix Espargaró, who also set a magnificent start. Aprillia’s started third and placed first after passing through the first corner.

Aleix held up very well for most of the first lap. Everything pointed to the fact that when he passed the finish line he would do it as first. But Márquez had other plans and surpassed his compatriot. The surprise jumped. Marc was first on the first lap. He had not led a race since he did it at Le Mans, yes, in the rain. The Sachsenring effect was being a huge factor.

A few laps later the first drops would begin to appear and with it the doubts of some riders about whether or not to enter to change the bike. Márquez took advantage of those moments of uncertainty to shoot and put land in between with the chasing group. Miller and Oliveira realized that Marc was leaving and, seeing that Aleix had no rhythm to keep up with him, they overtook him and began the chase.

The KTM had more than the Australian and left behind the Ducati. Oliveira began his pursuit of the eight-time world champion. Marquez held on. They were tracing the times. But the race was very long. This circuit is very short and that is why it is the one with the most laps (30). After the half of it, the Portuguese began to cut the leader a lot in the third and fourth quarter. The distance was getting smaller and smaller.

In the last five laps Oliveira was under the psychological barrier of one second. It seemed that the Portuguese pilot was approaching, Márquez’s victory was in danger. But the Spaniard took out his champion gene and sent him a message. As he crossed the finish line with three laps remaining, he struck the table and raised the distance again to 1.2 seconds. Marc was going to win again for the eleventh year in a row at the Sachsenring. It is his circuit for a reason. He was not well but he is a great champion and prolongs his dominance and that of Honda in Germany.
