La Costeña®, a 100% Mexican company, unveiled Frijoles Raíces Mexicanas, a limited edition of four types of endemic beans.

This was born with the aim of preserving the origin, flavor and variety of these inputs in danger of disappearing within Mexican territory.

Mexican Root Beans is a new line made up of the Ayocote Amarillo bean, which has a smooth texture and a pleasant flavor; Purple Ayocote bean, which, depending on the cooking time, goes from having a dense to creamy texture; Sangre de Toro beans, with a soft texture that melts in each bite and Vaquita beans, with a unique mix of colors and a light and creamy flavor on the palate.

The presentation of a star product

During the launch event, Rafael Celorio, CEO of La Costeña®, shared the following:

“For 99 years in the company we have had a strong commitment to preserve the Mexican culture and seasoning, characterized by the unique flavor of the elements that give life to our dishes”

In this sense, La Costeña® now seeks that families enjoy new gastronomic experiences through Mexican Root Beans, while preserving the biodiversity of these species in danger of disappearing.

In line with its constant innovation, this company launches these four varieties as an example of the wide gastronomy that we have in the country.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in Mexico there are around 50 species of beans, which enhance the meaning that this ingredient represents in our gastronomy.

Ana Belén Díez, director of marketing, highlighted the following: “One of the main objectives we have at La Costeña® is to continue creating different ways of bringing Mexican flavors to all consumers, always providing quality and practicality.”

He stated that today consumers are concerned and attentive to knowing the origin of the products they purchase, so on the labeling of these products they will be able to find a QR code with information on the origin and the processes that keep these ingredients 100% Mexican.

In addition, he emphasized that Frijoles Raíces Mexicanas are part of a vision that is not only limited to the national territory, but also goes beyond.

“These types of concepts and the different way of making them known have great potential to reach any part of the world.”

Beans as a main dish

Frijoles Raíces Mexicanas is now available in supermarkets throughout the Mexican Republic with the support and experience of the renowned Chef Lula Martín del Campo.

Thanks to her extensive knowledge of Mexican gastronomy, she has been key in making it possible for these products to reach Mexican cupboards as she is one of the specialists in these species.

“It is a great pride for me to accompany a brand as Mexican as La Costeña®. They put the ingredients and I the recipe, the result is wonderful and we are very happy and excited about this creation”, said Del Campo, at the presentation event at his Cascabel Restaurant.

She also expressed her great desire to elevate a traditional food such as beans to a gourmet level.

“We want to enhance these products and put them on the table with cloth napkins. We are already getting beans to be seen not as a side dish, but as the main dish.”

This new line is prepared with fresh and natural ingredients, coming entirely from the Mexican countryside.

They represent an opportunity to give a different touch to the dishes of Mexican families, thanks to their adaptability in cold and hot dishes, such as salads, soups and side dishes.

Once again, La Costeña® enhances the flavor of Mexico, now through Mexican Root Beans.
