The MotoGP transfer market in 2022 has completely altered the structure of the starting grid for the coming season. Following Suzuki’s departure from the championship, some deals have streamlined the process and become official during the summer break. One of them was the signing of Álex Rins, who will occupy the place that previously fell into the hands of Alex Márquez.

With the Cervera rider ready to make his debut at Gresini Racing, the championship handlebars prove that there is one free seat left in LCR. The team’s team manager, Lucio Cecchinello , opened up about this matter during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

“What we can say is that our Honda bike, compared to the past, is definitely going in a direction of being less V-style and more round-style, like the in-line cylinder.”

“If we take, for example, Maverick Viñales, who comes from a history of Suzuki and Yamaha, these characteristics of the bike and when he changed to a V engine, it cost him a little bit, but he definitely showed that we can be fast, so We hope that Alex Rins can do the same,” said the LCR Honda director during FP1 at Silverstone.

After announcing the arrival of Álex Rins in 2023, the Honda satellite team finds itself between two waters with their own names: Takaaki Nakagami and Ai Ogura, the latter active rider in the intermediate category.

“Together with Honda, we haven’t made any definitive decisions for the future. Definitely those next two or three races will be very, very important for Taka [Nakagami]’s future,” the team manager said during the British event.
