Lego suspends deliveries of blocks and other products to Russia

Lego, the Danish company that produces blocks, announced the temporary suspension of the shipment of products to Russia due to trade sanctions imposed by several Western countries as a result of the war in Ukraine.

"We have suspended the transportation of our products to Russia due to the effect of sanctions and the unpredictable environment for operating," the company said in a brief statement sent to several Danish media today.

Lego thus joins other large Danish firms such as the shipping company Maersk or the wind power company Vestas, which have decided to partially or totally suspend their commercial activities in Russia these days.

The Danish group earned 847 million euros (941 million dollars) net in the first half of 2021, 140% more than in the same period of the previous year, due to the evolution of consumer sales, which have risen 36 %.

The company has also increased its operating profit, which has grown by 104% to more than 1,000 million euros (1,110 million dollars), despite the strategic investment program currently underway, and has registered an increase in market share worldwide, according to the balance presented in September.
