Miller, critical of Jorge Martín: "I don't know where I wanted to go"

The Ducati rider did not fulfill his mission of making Fabio Quartararo lose points, who surprisingly overtook him at the new Red Bull Ring chicane in the final part of the race, leaving Jack Miller without a defense for Pecco Bagnaia, who in the end he won the race but was about to be caught by the Frenchman.

In addition to losing second place and not helping his teammate, Miller was about to lose the podium, only luck, or Jorge Martín’s misfortune, saved him. The Spaniard, who was running fourth in the penultimate passage through the finish line, tried a somewhat desperate overtaking at the end of the straight started on the last lap and to avoid going wide, he slightly closed the direction for the inside of the curve, falling to the ground.

“I don’t know where Martin planned to go when he overtook me, but he went where he was going,” the Australian runner said critically.

Miller admitted his mistake by leaving the gate open at the chicane with Quartararo.

“Fabio knew how to take advantage of my weak point at the chicane and overtook me, while Martín frankly didn’t understand what he wanted to do. I saw him arrive at turn 1, I tried to lengthen the braking, but I didn’t know where I could end up.”

Miller, who lost his position in the official Ducati team, will race next year with KTM, and will be replaced by Martín or Enea Bastianini, it seems that he had it in store for the Madrid native.

“His movement was very similar to that of Silverstone, I don’t know if he wanted to overtake me or take me off the track. If the attempt was to cancel me, that’s fine, but to do that you also have to stay on the track, which is the most important thing. And that’s it. Twice he fails to try.”

Regarding the race, the Australian was satisfied with a new podium finish, the fifth of the season.

“The bike worked fantastic all weekend. From the start I felt good, I was able to overtake Bastianini right away and then I tried to get close to Pecco,” says Miller.

“I felt I had a little bit better pace and was hoping to go with him so I tried to pass him but he immediately responded by speeding up as soon as he saw I was trying to pass him.”

“After that, Pecco really pushed hard imposing his rhythm, I tried to stay with him giving everything, but I had to give up. Towards the end I started to suffer and the others caught up with me,” Miller settled.
