The Philadelphia Eagles have strengthened themselves with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. The 36-year-old, who led the Baltimore Ravens to triumph in the Super Bowl in February 2013, was last with the New York Jets and received a one-year contract in Philadelphia.

He will likely take on the role of backup of Jalen Hurts, who replaced Carson Wentz as quarterback last season. Former number 2 pick and franchise quarterback Wentz was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason.

It is still unclear whether the planning for the position is over. Philadelphia is a candidate for a quarterback in the upcoming draft. The Eagles hold the sixth pick and may even trade higher.

For Flacco, it’s the fourth franchise he’s signed to after the Ravens, Jets and Denver Broncos. After winning the Super Bowl with the Ravens, the 36-year-old was even the highest-paid player in the league. In total, Flacco threw 224 touchdowns and 144 interceptions in his career and comes to 40,931 yards.
