Prince Andrew: The Queen's son can no longer hide from the authorities

0

For weeks there has been a lawsuit against the British Prince Andrew for abuse allegations in the USA. Now he has to get out of cover.

London – Prince Andrew is getting serious. So far, Queen Elizabeth II’s second eldest son has simply ignored the civil lawsuit against him in the United States. But this stupid thing now seems to no longer work. A British court has now granted the motion to officially inform the Duke of York of the lawsuit.

Plaintiff Virginia Giuffre accuses Andrew of having sexually abused her on multiple occasions as a minor more than 20 years ago. The now 38-year-old claims to have been “loaned” to Prince Andrew for sexual abuse by the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and is demanding compensation.

Abuse: A civil lawsuit is pending in the United States against Prince Andrew

So far, the question of whether the lawsuit had been properly served on Prince Andrew has been a major point of contention between the two sides. According to recently published court documents, the application was handed over to Prince Andrew on August 27, 2021 – but not in person.

Giuffres representative stated that he had given the document to a police officer at the entrance to the Prince’s residence in Windsor, England. In addition, the papers were sent by post. Andrew’s defense questioned its legality. But now the London High Court has confirmed that it will inform Andrew of the lawsuit. The court was referring to the Hague Service Convention, which allows countries to obtain evidence in civil and commercial matters.

Applicant accuses Andrew of abusing her

Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit is linked to the abuse scandal involving convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in prison in 2019. Giuffre accuses Andrew of abusing her in the home of Epstein’s then girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell in London.

The then 17-year-old was according to her complaint by Epstein, Maxwell and Prince Andrew “against her will to have sexual intercourse with Prince Andrew”. In addition to London, the prince also abused her in Epstein’s house in New York and on Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean.

Queen is silent on the allegations against Prince Andrew

And the queen? So far, she has been absolutely silent about what has happened to Andrew, but has repeatedly shown herself to be at the side of her son. He is currently staying with his mother at the Balmoral summer residence in Scotland. At his side is his former wife Sarah Ferguson, who was also seen on the day of the court decision in a meadow in front of the castle where the Queen is currently staying. (cs with dpa / afp)
