Prince Harry announces a special project in NRW – where can you see him?

What news for all Royals fans: Prince Harry has spoken for the first time after the birth of his daughter Lili – and announced a special project in North Rhine-Westphalia.

NRW – Many Royals fans have been waiting for this: On Wednesday (June 9th) Harry, Duke of Sussex (36), spoke for the first time since the birth of his daughter Lilibet Diana a week ago in a video message. But the British Royal did not show the world press the newborn or mother Meghan (39) – but announced a special project in Düsseldorf, reports RUHR24 *.

On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan * announced that they would resign as high-ranking members of the royal family. Instead of royal duties, they now have numerous projects – including a cooperation with Netflix – in planning.

Since 2014, Prince Harry has also been the patron of the “Invictus Games”, which he himself launched. These are Paralympic Games in which wounded soldiers compete against each other in sports. A heart project for Prince Harry, who was stationed in southern Afghanistan during his military career and participated in frontline missions.

Having started in the UK in 2014, the Games have been taking place around the world since 2016. In 2023, the event will even come to Düsseldorf, as Prince Harry has now personally announced in a video. “It is time to spread the message: something big is about to happen in Germany,” says the prince into the camera.

Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (58, CDU), who shared the video of the British prince on her Twitter account on Wednesday (June 9), is also part of the project. “Prince Harry told me: Something big is coming to Germany! We are proud to host the #InvictusGames 2023 in Düsseldorf, “commented the politician on the video message.

As the venue for the “Invictus Games”, the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital joins the ranks of major international cities such as London, Orlando (Florida), Toronto and Sydney. By the way, the games in Düsseldorf should originally have taken place in 2022.

Due to the corona pandemic *, however, the competitions have been postponed to 2023 and will now take place for the first time in Germany from September 9 to 16 (read more news about the corona virus in NRW * on RUHR24).

It has not yet been confirmed whether Prince Harry will travel to Düsseldorf himself. At the last “Invictus Games” in Sydney, Orlando and Toronto, however, the prince, as patron, insisted on opening the event and watching some games on site.
