0

It is very possible that you have heard the acronyms of EBAU or EvAU on many occasions, especially in the month of June, when the Selectividad 2021 exams are approaching. All students who finish high school and wish to continue with higher studies at the University must pass these exams. But how is it actually written? Is it EBAU or EvAU?

STICK

PAU is the acronym that corresponds to the old University Access Test , a test that established a new model of very specific and defined access to the university.

This entrance test consisted of a grade from the general phase of the PAU, together with the high school average. This would be the grade to access university studies.

¿ EBAU o EvAU?

The Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access (EBAU or EVAU) is the current way of calling the 2021 pre-university exams for Selectivity. These exams are divided into two blocks, one mandatory and the other specific , and optional, which allows to improve the student’s final grade to be able to access careers with a higher cut-off grade.

The final grade will be obtained from 60% of the average grade of the two years of high school and 40% of the grade obtained in the 2021 Selectivity tests.

But what is the difference between EBAU and EvAU? The truth is that there is no difference between the two acronyms. It is just the way that some universities in Spain have to refer to these exams.

EBAU is the term used in Asturias, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Extremadura, the Balearic Islands, La Rioja and Murcia, while EvAU (Evaluation of access to the university) is used in Aragón, Castilla La Mancha, Navarra and Madrid . In Andalusia, on the other hand, the term PEvAU is used, while in Galicia and Euskadi the abbreviations ABAU and EAU are used, respectively.

PAU, the acronym above

PAU is the acronym that corresponds to the old University Access Test , a test that established a new model of very specific and defined access to the university.

This entrance test consisted of a grade from the general phase of the PAU, together with the high school average. This would be the grade to access university studies.

What is the Selectividad 2021?

When we speak of Selectivity we refer, in general, to pre-university exams. These are the tests that all students must pass in order to access the university and the degree they want.

The Selectividad gathers different exams that try to quantify the competences of the students . Depending on the type of baccalaureate they have previously chosen, they will have to undergo different tests.

It is in this way that the cut-off marks are established that select the students and that give access to the different Degrees in the universities of Spain.
