It must be remembered that, although it is not definitive, it is quite decisive to achieve pole position at Marina Bay, and that is that out of twelve editions of the Singapore event, the poleman has ended up winning the race on eight occasions.
However, it is expected that the characteristics of the 2022 F1 cars and, above all, the different tire management will help the starting positions to not be definitive in this Singapore GP.
Leclerc has to win to try to delay the title of his rival Max Verstappen, who had a very bad qualifying and will start from the fourth row of the grid. The Dutchman will trust that his teammate Sergio Pérez will take the victory from the Ferrari man, but he will also have to overcome Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly, who all start ahead.
According to what we have seen with their teammates (both in Q3) in Alpine and McLaren, both Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon start in positions that do not correspond to the pace of their car, so they will have to come back in the middle zone in a track where overtaking is not easy.
