The United States warns that China is strengthening: it could have 1,000 nuclear warheads in 2030

The United States has warned of the military strengthening and the advances that China is making. In addition, the US administration warns that Beijing could already have a thousand nuclear warheads by 2030. This has been detailed by the US Department of Defense in its annual report ‘China’s military and security advances’ , ordered by Congress from the United States and serves as “an authoritative assessment” of China’s developments in these areas.

The Chinese government has called the US report on its nuclear arsenal “manipulation.”

Washington has revealed that the Xi Jinping government is on the way to strengthening its “ability to fight and win wars against a strong enemy, coerce Taiwan and rival claimants in territorial disputes, and counter third-party involvement in conflicts in the periphery of China.

These advances from Beijing are received with concern in the United States, which sees how the expansion of the Chinese nuclear arsenal is greater than expected and exceeds previous estimates of the Pentagon.

Likewise, the report also points to the development of new ICBMs by the Xi government, which is now immersed in the construction of at least three missile silo fields. This point has also been made manifest by the American Federation of Scientists, although since Beijing they have not commented on the matter.

Already last month, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley , expressed concern about the Chinese demonstrations of the use of hypersonic weapons , for which he considered that a “Sputnik moment” could be “very close”, alluding to the Soviet satellite launch in 1957, which marked its leadership in the ‘space race’, recalls ‘The Hill’.

This report has been published at a time when relations between Washington and Beijing are going through a phase of tension derived from the Chinese air raids on Taiwan, which they consider to be their territory, to which the United States has highlighted its commitment to the island. At the end of October, the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing Wen , acknowledged that the threats from Beijing were increasing and that the island had the presence of trainers from the US Army.
