Star quarterback Deshaun Watson comes under more pressure for alleged sexual assault. The Houston Texans playmaker is now faced with 16 lawsuits from various women.
Most of the cases are trained masseuses, and Watson is said to have approached the women immorally during the treatments. He is accused of various sexual assaults, the 25-year-old himself denies the allegations.
His attorney Rusty Hardin said Tuesday he had “strong evidence” that a lawsuit was based on false testimony. This also calls into question the “credibility of the other lawsuits,” said Hardin: “I believe that the claim that Deshaun forced a woman to have a sexual act is completely false.”
Watson, who was drafted by the Texans in 2017 but forced his exit this offseason, had denied the allegations a week ago. The lawyer of one of the plaintiffs had claimed that it was not about money, but then made an “unsubstantiated six-figure settlement demand,” wrote Watson on Twitter. “I quickly refused. Unlike him, it’s not about money. It’s about clearing my name and I’m looking forward to it.” At that time, however, only one case was known.
The Texans also issued a statement at the time. “We take this type of allegation, involving individuals from the Houston Texans, seriously. We will await more information before making any further statements about the incident,” it said.
