Will tropical storm Elsa also reach Florida? Cuba and Caribbean archipelagos are affected.

Miami – Tropical Storm Elsa is not yet in Florida, but it could be the third storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season to threaten the United States. The place in Miami may be affected, where a high-rise apartment building collapsed and hundreds of people were buried. Around 150 people are still missing.

Storm Elsa: Developed into a tropical storm

Regarding Storm Elsa, the National Hurricane Center said it was too early to determine the impact: “It is too early to determine what, if any, impact could occur there next week – given the uncertainty of long-term projections.” However, on Thursday morning (July 2nd, 2021) Storm Elsa intensified into a tropical storm with wind speeds of 45 miles per hour (72.42 km / h). The fast-moving storm is racing to the west, so an increase is predicted for the next 48 hours.

However, a tropical storm warning already applies to Barbados and Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; also for Jamaica, Grenada and the south and west coast of Haiti. The southern border of the Dominican Republic is also affected.

Strum Elsa: Eastern Cuba is affected

Elsa is said to already haunt parts of the Windward Islands on Friday (July 2nd, 2021) and bring gusty winds including up to 25 cm of rain. On Saturday (July 3rd, 2021) the storm is expected in the eastern Caribbean, more precisely near the south coast of Hispaniola – on Sundays probably near the east coast of Cuba.

In general, the hurricane center has little confidence in the forecast. Some weather models predict that Storm Elsa will turn and stay east of Florida, while others only locate it in the Gulf of Mexico, so Florida would not be affected. (ktho / CNN)
