Two people were shot dead in East Westphalia last week. The police investigation continues, the suspect is silent.

Bielefeld – In the case of a 51-year-old woman who was shot in Espelkamp in East Westphalia and her brother (48), who were also killed, the police investigation continues.

The Bielefeld public prosecutor’s office is currently not providing any information on the question of the weapon and the background to the crime on Thursday for tactical reasons.

The 52-year-old suspect from Lower Saxony has been in custody for double manslaughter since last Friday and is silent. Whether it is murder or manslaughter is also part of the ongoing investigation, said prosecutor Christopher York on Tuesday when asked. According to the investigators so far, the man with a Turkish passport is said to have killed his wife and brother-in-law who are separated from him.

About six hours after the crime, the alleged perpetrator from Diepenau was arrested at his place of residence in Lower Saxony, about 13 kilometers from Espelkamp. According to the investigators, he had not previously been noticed by the police. The motive should be in the family area.

The penal code differentiates between manslaughter and murder. Certain characteristics must be met for a murder. These include lust for murder, satisfaction of the sexual instinct, greed or other low motives, treachery or the covering up of another crime. dpa
