Video: Jorge Martín crash when he was leading the MotoGP Malaysian GP

Jorge Martín seemed to have the victory in Sepang in hand. The rider from Madrid, who started from pole, knew how to stay ahead of the pack in the early stages , and managed to open a lead of several seconds over Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini.

However, Martín ended up making a mistake towards the halfway point of the race . The Ducati satellite rider lost the front end of his Desmosedici in the second sector of the circuit, and was unable to avoid ending up in the gravel.

His fall left Bagnaia in front of the race , on a day in which he was fighting to be crowned world champion and in which victory unequivocally brought him closer to that goal.

This drop adds to Martin’s ever-longing list of mistakes in 2022 . The former Moto3 world champion fought in the first half of the season with Enea Bastianini to get the second official Ducati bike, free from 2023.

At first it was the Spaniard who had the most ballots, but his discreet results ended up tipping the balance in favor of the Gresini rider.

This is the fifth zero of the course for Jorge Martín , who only got on the podium three times and occupied, upon his arrival in Sepang, ninth place in the general classification.
