Johann Zarco confirmed this Saturday the good feelings exhibited on Friday and took his second pole of the course at Silverstone , on a day marked by Aleix Espargaró ‘s crush.

The Spaniard, who in the general table of the World Cup is chasing Fabio Quartararo, the leader – he has him 21 points behind – carried out a heroic act by placing sixth on the grid, after suffering one of the most spectacular accidents of his career .

The eldest of the brothers from Granollers (Barcelona) went flying in the first moments of the fourth free trial and crashed violently against the asphalt. After passing through the clinic , the Aprilia rider risked everything on a second attempt – he did the first to prove himself – which placed him provisionally in front.

In the final minutes, Aleix’s record was surpassed by five of his rivals.

The fastest of all was Zarco, who lowered the absolute record of the track by four tenths, held by Marc Márquez since 2019.

The second place will be occupied by Maverick Viñales, who in this way celebrated his first row wearing the Aprilia suit, while Jack Miller will start the third.

The second row will be formed by Fabio Quartararo, forced to make a rodeo ( long lap ) in the first three laps of the race, Pecco Bagnaia (fifth) and Espargaró.

Marco Bezzecchi finished seventh and will start from the third row together with Enea Bastianini (eighth) and Jorge Martín (ninth).

Luca Marini will close the top ten, from which the two Suzuki riders were left out, both Alex Rins (eleventh) and Joan Mir (12th).

Apart from the records of the second sieve of the qualifying session, it is worth highlighting the debacle of Honda , whose best classified was Alex Márquez, 17th.
