Lamps that glow in the dark
For this luminous experiment we will only need: water, large plastic or glass bottles or glasses and fluorescent markers in the colors that apprentice scientists like the most, pink, yellow, green …
Once we have all the materials, we will ask the children to fill the containers we have chosen half full and they will end up becoming excellent fluorescent lamps. Then, we will open the markers and extract the interior, introducing each of the colors that we have in one of the glasses or bottles that we have previously filled with water. If we let the mixture rest for about an hour, on the way back, we will extract the thickness of the marker from each “container” and we will ask the little ones to turn off the light in the room … surprise! A collection of colored lamps that glow in the dark will appear before your eyes.
Milk art
Do you want to teach them the phenomenon of surface tension while they design their own work of art? They will love this experiment. We will need: milk, which will be the basis of our experiment, liquid dish soap, a bowl or a deep plate, dyes of various colors and a not very thick wooden stick.
To begin, we will cover the container that we have chosen with milk. We will pour a few drops of colored colorants to our liking and then several drops of liquid soap. We will observe what effect this mixture produces, due to the fact that the fats contained in the milk prevent the colorants from dissolving in it; in the same way , liquid soap also repels these fats, so we ask the children to take the wooden stick or toothpick, they can begin to create their work of art, generating the most varied shapes thanks to this curious effect.
