Analysts consulted by Banxico see higher inflation and growth

Private sector analysts expect inflation outside the Banco de México (Banxico) target this year.

The recent survey carried out by Banxico to 35 private analysts contemplates an increase in general inflation of 5% from 4.56% while core inflation outlines levels of 3.91%.

The specialists, consulted between May 24 and 28, also raised their expectation of GDP growth to 5.15%, from 4.80%.

Among the factors that could hinder economic growth, governance and internal conditions such as political uncertainty, weakness in the domestic market, public security problems and the lack of the rule of law stood out.

“The fraction of analysts who consider that the business climate will improve in the next 6 months increased compared to the previous month and is the predominant one this time. For their part, the percentage of specialists who believe that the business climate will remain the same decreased. with respect to the previous survey, “the survey highlighted.

The survey also showed an increase in people who are not sure that the current situation is suitable for investments, although the percentage of those who believe that it is a bad time to make investments decreased.

Analysts estimate that the interest rate will remain at 4% in 2021 and will rise 25 basis points in 2022.
