With less than two weeks to go before the Oscars ceremony, Google launches Oscar Search Trends , a website that predicts who will be the winners based on searches carried out by Internet users among the nominated films and actors. Thus, according to the tool, in the last 30 days the best positioned to win the Oscar for best actor has been Colin Firth, nominated for his performance in The King’s Speech , although closely followed by James Franco, the protagonist of 127 hours . At some distance from both is the Spanish Javier Bardem, who stars in Biutiful .
As for the award for best film , Oscar Search Trends predicts that it could be for Black Swan , the film with the most searches in recent weeks. In second place is Origen , which would also win the prize for special effects. If the search engine is right, the Oscar for best actress would go to Natalie Portman, star of Black Swan . Another possible candidate to take the statuette would be Nicole Kidman.
Following these same criteria, the award for the best original script would go to Origen , and Toy Story 3 would win the award for the best animated film. Internet searches rank Beautiful as the favorite for the Oscar for best foreign language film.
