Four podiums in the last five races, two of them victories, have made Pecco Bagnaia one of the men of the moment in MotoGP. Although he has probably arrived too late to really fight for the 2021 title, he will certainly start as one of the main favorites for next year’s crown.

The difference of 52 points with respect to Fabio Quartararo with three races remaining does not allow us to dream too much at present, but now the whole world has realized the leap in quality that the Ducati rider has made, one of the revelations of this year, that during his trip to the United States he was interviewed by CNN in a talk that left several really interesting brushstrokes.

The first was her relationship with Valentino Rossi. In his childhood he was his idol, then he became his mentor and now he is a friend who encourages him to always give his best.

“I remember very well the first time I met him. We were having dinner, and Vale and our coach came into the restaurant. I was very nervous to meet my idol, it was strange to see him in front of me and shake his hand,” said Bagnaia.

“Now we are good friends and we talk a lot about the championship. In the last month it has encouraged me to always be the best and to improve every time,” he added.

In the United States it was still unclear why he is more famous by his nickname than by his real name. There, Pecco explained that everything is due to his sister Carola, who still follows him as his shadow in the World Championship paddock.

“My sister is only 20 months older than me. When we were little, calling me ‘Francesco’ was difficult, so she called me Pecco,” he revealed.
