The world at night
The winners of this contest remind us not only of the incomparable beauty of our starry sky but also of its fragility in the face of libertine lights. The international program The World at Night (TWAN) founded the contest in 2009 , and now it has the collaboration of multiple institutions.
The photographs represent night images, photographs that show both the night sky and the terrestrial landscape, with special attention to astronomical perspectives and celestial phenomena.
“The selected images are the most effective in impressing the public about how important and delicate the starry sky is and also, the great problem posed by light pollution “, explains the jury of the contest.
Mind you, digital processing is essential in any style of photography today, especially when it comes to low-light conditions, but extreme white balance shift, too much color saturation, extreme contrast, masking, and excess sharpness can throw off the effects. natural colors of the night sky, hence the contest guidelines place special emphasis on this detail.
