Can there be people identical to you?

If we compare the DNA of any two people on Earth who are not related, we will discover that they only differ genetically by 0.1%. It may seem little, but it is a world. The reason we are unique is sex. When nature discovered 2,200 million years ago that shuffling the genes of two different individuals accelerated evolution, we gained individuality.

Not so identical twins

There will never be two subjects with an identical genetic heritage, except for twin brothers. Now even these are not that alike, at least if we put DNA aside. We have an example in Juan Barbachano and his twin sister Liana Hoemke. Juan was born as Juanita, although very soon he felt like a man enclosed in the body of a woman. After a sex change treatment, he is now a man. Considering what we have seen, the probability that there is someone just like us is zero.

They decipher the most complete sequence of the human genome

A new milestone. After 20 years, scientists have published a sequence of approximately 3,000 million bases in our DNA.

Why can you find a pepper inside another pepper?

The appearance of a secondary fruit inside another fruit is a relatively common botanical curiosity, but why does this phenomenon occur? And can it be of any use?

Why 1 year in dogs is not equal to 7 human years

The study of DNA offers us the opportunity to compare the age of dogs with that of humans, with greater precision, thanks to the epigenetic clock.

They discover a living descendant of Sitting Bull

The confirmation that Sitting Bull has a living great-grandson has been made possible using DNA from the hair of the great Sioux chief. It is the first time such a feat has been accomplished.
