LG was a few weeks ago the first major manufacturer and the first major technology company to communicate that it would not attend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to avoid possible problems with the coronavirus for its employees, customers and partners . The firm made the decision before anyone else, despite the fact that the event was part of its roadmap to present a new flagship phone .
What came next is well known. Cancellations of other ICT companies came in a cascade in the following days and finally the GSMA, the organizing association of the congress, proceeded to cancel them. Thus, without a fair in between, smartphone manufacturers have continued with their planned launches, although not in person. Huawei, Xiaomi or Sony have done it, but also LG itself.
The South Korean company has announced the arrival of the LG V60 ThinQ 5G , a terminal that is mainly characterized by having a double screen and that will be its flagship from now on. Actually, the proposal is an update and improvement of the LG V50 ThinQ, a model that the Asian manufacturer showed during the MWC of 2019 .
LG prefers to use two independent screens instead of using a folding panel , differentiating itself from the bet of its rivals Samsung, Huawei or Lenovo (with Motorola). Each of them has a diagonal of 6.8 inches and Full HD + resolution (2,460 x 1,080 pixels). In addition, an additional 2.1-inch screen is located at the rear that displays essential information. The secondary screen, so to speak, would be called the LG Dual Screen .
The grace of this 2-in-1 device is that both panels can be combined to extend the screen (as if you put several monitors together), enjoying games in a more enriched way or opening two apps simultaneously. Through an accessory it is possible to support it to consume audiovisual content while accessing its information, for example.
The sound and the drums, two other strengths
LG not only has not skimped on displays. He has also been generous with the sound. Your new model has four high-performance microphones and allows you to pick up sound from various directions. With the Voice Bokeh option, voices can be separated from ambient noise.
The smartphone comes with the latest and most advanced processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 865 . It also includes 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage . If memory is low, there is also the possibility to expand it by an external slot of up to 2 TB. The battery is another of its strengths: it integrates 5,000 mAh , which guarantees a use of two days.
On the back the phone includes a triple camera, which can record in 8K quality. The main camera of the trio has a 64-megapixel sensor and f / 1.8 aperture . The front camera is discreetly located in a drop notch that is integrated into the upper central area. With Pixel Binning technology, four pixels are combined into one, which means that the photos would be 16 megapixels.
It is a phone prepared for access to 5G networks, as its name clearly indicates. The V60 ThinQ 5G comes with a Snapdragon X55 modem and supports the full spectrum of fifth-generation networks.
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is expected to go on sale starting in March in Europe, North America and Asia, although the firm has not disclosed the price it could have in the market.
