We continue to make visible the work of little-known researchers. In “Spanish Neuroscience in 120 Seconds” I am going to talk about the neuroscientist Susana Martinez-Conde, who directs the “Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience”.
Neuro things, although cool, are sometimes unattractive to the general public from the outset: because let’s face it, so cold things like my thesis on the role of SNARE proteins in axonal guidance and tumor progression … dry, but everyone loves magic, illusionism! And Susana studies the neuroscience behind all these tricks.
His works on how our eyes see clearly only a small part of the image are very interesting and they are constantly moving quickly to create the illusion that we see everything clearly ; and he also studies the subject of attention a lot and, as a whole, how many things we see are not real, but approximate constructions that are the product of a brain that goes as far as it goes.
In addition, she brings science closer to the general public by disseminating: she is the co-author of several books and co-founder of a prize for scientific illusionism and her work has appeared in many media.
