Adventurer Doug Gunzelmann, author of the greenUPGRADER blog, is planning an expedition to bike through the heart of the Amazon this fall. Gunzelmann has planned to travel alone 6,000 kilometers of the trans-Amazon highway, still unfinished. In this way, he says, he hopes to "educate people about the importance of nature in our lives and inspire them to take care of our environment in a sustainable way." And why have you chosen the Amazon? Because, to paraphrase the Swiss physician Hans Bieri, "there are more things between heaven and earth, especially out there in the jungle , that no Westerner will ever understand."
For those who want to closely follow the preparations and previous training sessions, know the vehicle chosen for the trip (a Jamis dragon bicycle), and share with Gunzelmann the adventures and misadventures of their next trip, the Amazom Pilgrim website has been created.
